Our story

島人のソウルフード、八重山そば

Taira Shoten is a Yaeyama soba shop on the ground floor of the Manta Park Side building in Tonoshiro, Ishigaki – look for the wooden terrace and the surfboard-shaped sign.

Our broth balances chicken, pork, bonito and kombu stock: light, but full of flavour. Our spicy miso vegetable soba won the Y-1 Grand Prix in 2014, and our Yaeyama soba took the grand prix in the Yaeyama soba category of the 2017 Yaeyama Soba Championship.

Alongside the soba we make juushii rice balls in limited numbers each day, and set meals such as yurinchi fried chicken, chicken nanban and tonkatsu.

八重山そばは、八重山の人たちが昔から親しんできた島人のソウルフードです。当店のスープは「鶏」「豚」「かつお」「昆布」の出汁をバランスよく合わせ、あっさりとしながらも、しっかりとした味わいに仕上げています。

店内のメニューにも記しているとおり、2014年には辛味噌野菜そばが「Y-1グランプリ2014」で、2017年には八重山そばが「八重山そば選手権2017」の八重山そば部門で、それぞれグランプリをいただきました。

そばのほかにも、石垣島のローカルファストフードとして数量限定のじゅーしーおにぎりを、また油淋鶏やチキン南蛮、トンカツなどの定食もご用意しています。お知らせはFacebookでご案内しています。

初めての八重山そば、こちらでいただきました！駐車場が初めてだと分かりづらい点を除いて大満足です！ ですが駐車場もお店にQRコードで分かりやすく案内されているので、助かります。 八重山そばはスープがとても美味しくて、子供も大人もぺろっと食べてしまいました！ 開店ちょっと前くらいについて既に並んでいましたが、わりと回転が早いです。

石垣港のそばの街なか

登野城は石垣市の中心部、石垣港の近くの地区です。そばを食べたあとは、港の離島ターミナルから竹富島や西表島など八重山の島々へ渡ることもできます。

Tonoshiro is part of central Ishigaki City, close to Ishigaki Port, where ferries leave for Taketomi, Iriomote and the other Yaeyama islands.
